Simon Botherway Chairman
Following 15 years working in financial market and equities management roles, Simon jointly founded Brook Asset Management in 2002, which grew to become one of New Zealand’s most prominent wealth management firms, with over NZD1.5 billion of funds under management. Brook Asset Management was then acquired by Macquarie Bank in 2008.
Since then, Simon has held a number of high-profile leadership and governance roles. Previous roles include:

Chair of Serko Limited, a SaaS focused online corporate travel booking and expense management enterprise. Simon chaired Serko as it grew to become a listed company - first on the NZX, then the ASX;
-
A Guardian Director of The New Zealand Superannuation Fund, overseeing the (then) NZD46 billion New Zealand Superannuation Fund;
-
Member of the New Zealand Securities Commission;
-
Chairman of the Financial Markets Authority (“FMA”) Establishment Board, responsible for the institutional design and establishment of the FMA, the New Zealand government agency responsible for financial market regulation; and
-
Member of the Electricity Authority Establishment Board; and
-
Director Fisher & Paykel Appliances.
Outside of Origin Capital Partners and Greener Pastures New Zealand, Simon’s current roles include:

Dominic Jones Managing Director
Dominic (Dom) is the founder and Managing Director of Origin Capital Partners and combines a professional background in finance with lifelong personal involvement in kiwifruit.
Prior to establishing Origin Capital Partners, Dom had a career in banking, including five years in London specialising in the sourcing, structuring and execution of complex and large debt deals.
Dom returned home from London to establish Origin Capital Partners and has successfully fundraised for both Origin Capital Fund 1 and 2. These funds are now among the largest kiwifruit enterprises in New Zealand. Dom leads the Origin Capital Partners investment team.
Outside of Origin Capital Partners and Greener Pastures New Zealand, Dom’s other roles include:

Board member at Zealafoam Holdings Ltd, a sustainable packaging start-up business;

Kim Wallace Chair Of Audit, Risk Committee
Kim has both significant experience and passion for the New Zealand primary sector.
Kim has held a number of directorship positions since 2012, with Audit & Risk Committee chair responsibilities from 2014. Other current governance roles held include:

AgResearch Ltd – Acting Chair;

Port Nelson Ltd – Director / Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee; and

O’Connor Partners Ltd – Member of the Advisory Committee.
In addition to the above, Kim has built a governance consulting practice that draws upon her significant experience and passion for good governance and executive leadership. Her current engagements include working with the NZ Transport Agency - Waka Kotahi as an advisor to their large, complex transport projects.
Prior to her career in governance, Kim held senior executive roles within the dairy industry including CFO at Westland Milk Products from 2010-2016, VP Finance at Fonterra (USA) Inc. based in Chicago and Harrisburg, USA from 2007–2009 and Deputy Finance Manager at Fonterra GMbH in Hamburg, Germany from 2004-2006. Additionally, she served as an Executive Director on the Boards of Dairy Industries Jamaica Limited from 2007-2009, Easiyo Products Limited subsidiaries over 2010-2016 and Westland Milk Products Shanghai Limited (Chair) from 2014-2016.

Lain Jager Director
Lain has an extensive record of leadership within New Zealand agribusiness, notably with Zespri from 1999-2017. He initially joined the company as Human Resources Manager before becoming General Manager of Supply Chain in 2004. In December 2008, Lain was appointed Chief Executive Officer, a role he held until 2017. During Lain’s tenure at Zespri he oversaw the successful commercialisation of Zespri SunGold , the doubling of grower returns, Zespri’s market capitalisation grow by eight times to over NZD1 billion, and the industry recovery from the bacterial vine disease, Psa.
Today, Lain is involved in a range of projects in tourism and agribusiness. He is a Director on several boards including:

DMS Progrowers;

Nibblish;
-
New Zealand Avocado Oil;
-
Arepa; and
-
acts as a strategic advisor to a small number of companies.
Lain was Chairman of the Primary Sector Council that delivered the ‘Fit for a Better World’ report, which was released by the government in July 2020.

Paul Jones Director
Paul has a forestry and agriculture background and has been extensively involved in all aspects of the kiwifruit industry for more than 35 years.
In 1989 Paul established DMS Progrowers, a postharvest business that provides picking, packing and storage services to the kiwifruit industry. Today DMS is one of New Zealand’s largest post-harvest and orchard management operators, and Paul is one of New Zealand’s largest kiwifruit growers.
Paul holds a number of leadership positions in the New Zealand kiwifruit industry, including:

Managing Director of DMS Progrowers;
-
Board member since 2014 of Zespri, the single-desk exporter and marketer of all New Zealand kiwifruit;
-
Member of the New Zealand kiwifruit Industry Advisory Council; and
-
Numerous governance and ownership positions within different partnerships and commercial operations throughout the sector.
Paul sits on the Investment Committee responsible for evaluating the investments of Origin Capital’s kiwifruit investments.
Outside of the kiwifruit industry and Origin Capital Partners, Paul has extensive involvement in the New Zealand agricultural sectors with ownership interests in the forestry, dairy, sheep & beef, and apple sectors.

Craig Greenlees Director
Craig jointly founded DMS Progrowers with Paul and is joint Managing Director.
Craig has an extensive background in corporate governance, finance and operational management, particularly within agribusiness.
Craig served as a director of Zespri from 1999 - 2014 and was chairman of the board from 2002 - 2008. During this time with Zespri, Craig oversaw the growth of Hort16A (the first ‘gold’ kiwifruit) in global markets, as well as the subsequent transition to the SunGold variety that drives the significant profitability of the industry today.
Craig was a founding member and served as Deputy President of NZ Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated, and also helped form the Industry Advisory Council, which caters specifically to the financial, tax and regulatory aspects of the kiwifruit industry.
Craig is a member of both Origin Capital and the Greener Pastures New Zealand Diversified Fund Investment Committees.
